This is a special post for me... None of these photos are from any one shoot, but rather are an amalgamation of all my favorite shots of a woman who has become very dear to me. I love her... and if I allowed myself I could ramble on about her until, well you'd be tired of hearing about her. I will say this, she is an amazing woman... an amazing mother... and she makes me happy. I hope she knows how much she means to me, and I hope I mean as much to her...

We got a little daring late into the second shoot... err, ok well maybe daring isn't the right word. Maybe it could be best described as bored. Two shoots, we had to expand our repertoire somehow. A black muslin, some darker clothing... we tried our hand at something a little darker. Low key but not quite...

The second shoot between myself and Trista... or rather more a continuation of the first. Trista and I were both happy with the outcome of the last, and we we're both relatively new at everything so I suppose we stuck with what worked. We were both a little more comfortable in our respective roles and the shots turned out nice. Great even...

The original shoot that took place between myself and Trista... unique for me in that it was the first time I had accepted paying work doing modeling related shots. My experience up until then consisted of family portraits and modeled shoots of friends willing to let me practice using them. How far I have come since then...
I was unsure of how things would turn out and being honest wasn't sure who was the more nervous... me or her. It's interesting looking back through the originals as those first few (50ish) shots were so static and dry... but as shells we're broken out of things became comfortable and the shots in the end turned out well. Everyone walked away happy.

Shannon, a co-worker and friend, took me up on an offer to shoot family portraits as a Christmas gift last year. She came over with her son and we managed some great shots before he decided he wanted nothing more to do with the camera... sitting still for any amount of time just isn't easy for a kid and as I was even more an amateur then speed wasn't exactly my forte. That left me with all my gear out... ansi to practice... and with a willing model. Honestly, I had no real idea what I was doing. I mean I could work a camera but had at this point no experience in posing or directing a model. That said I think the shots turned out phenomenal, we had fun, all my thanks to her...

The problem with this series... and its not the only one I have this problem with... is that I cannot for the life of me decide whether they look better in color or black and white. This series more than any other though I find myself flip-flopping back and forth between the two, and so it is with this series that I make an exception and post both. Maybe one of you can make the decision for me?
